Salford consultancy firm receives six figure NPIF II funding to support growth
Press release
Salford-based RECOM Solutions has secured a six figure funding investment to scale up its business and create new jobs.

The funding has been provided by NPIF II – FW Capital Debt Finance, which is managed by FW Capital as part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II (NPIF II).
Founded in 2015 by directors Jason McKnight and Joseph Dillon, RECOM Solutions is a chartered building consultancy which undertakes construction project management and main contracting work across sectors including healthcare, education, retail and leisure, commercial and residential. It also provides consultancy services to assist in the design and delivery of health and safety, sustainability, passive fire protection and cladding projects.
RECOM Solutions has recorded 40% growth per annum in its passive fire protection services and needed extra working capital to support its growth strategy in this area of the business. The firm is also using this significant investment to create five new jobs. Passive fire protection (PFP) refers to a range of measures designed to limit the spread of fire, smoke, and heat within a building or structure.
Jason McKnight, Director at RECOM Solutions said:
Construction projects can be complex and challenging, requiring meticulous planning, coordination, and expertise. This is where our team’s expertise comes to the fore, providing in-depth consultancy advice, having worked on high profile projects across Manchester, the North West and beyond. We’ve seen significant growth in PFP and this side of our business is currently growing 40% per year. To meet this increased demand and take our business to the next level we need additional investment. The funding from FW Capital has boosted our working capital and enabled us to grow. We’ve also created five new jobs.
Adam Husband, Senior Investment Executive at FW Capital added:
RECOM Solutions has recorded impressive growth especially in the PFP sector. This is an area that Jason and Joseph are investing heavily in. This is a great example of how NPIF II is helping a local business to scale up with confidence. RECOM Solutions work with a number of public sector organisations in this field, including the NHS, schools and universities. With this funding they can take the business even further forward.
Sue Barnard, Senior Investment Manager at the British Business Bank, said:
The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II is designed to support ambitious businesses like RECOM Solutions, helping them to scale up, create jobs, and drive economic growth in the North West. It’s fantastic to see Jason and the team using NPIF II funding to expand its services in an area of increasing importance within the construction sector.
RECOM Solutions is an approved contractor under the UK’s Fire Accreditation Scheme (FIRAS) for its fire protection services, specialising in the installation and maintenance of fire-resistant barriers, including fire-rated walls, ceilings, doors, and structural coatings, ensuring compliance with all relevant fire safety regulations.
The £660m Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II (NPIFII) covers the entire North of England and provides loans from £25k to £2m and equity investment up to £5m to help a range of small and medium sized businesses to start up, scale up or stay ahead.
The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II aims to build on the success of the initial fund, with the purpose of driving sustainable economic growth by supporting innovation and creating local opportunity for new and growing businesses across the North of England.
The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II will increase the supply and diversity of early-stage finance for the North’s smaller businesses, providing funds to firms that might otherwise not receive investment and help to break down barriers in access to finance. FW Capital will provide debt finance options from £100,000 to £2million to businesses based in the North West of England, with some flexibility to lend across the North.
