Seacourt Ltd
As part of the launch of our Guide to Business Resilience, we reached out to a number of smaller business owers to find out what business resilience meant to them.
In this interview, we speak to Gareth Dinnage, Founder of Seacourt Ltd, about what business resilience means in her industry.
What does business resilience mean to you?
Ensuring that our business is suitably robust for the long term and for the unexpected.
in particular we've ensured that the business has a broad skill base, interchangeable skills, financial strength and flexibility, and a wide customer base to limit over reliance on any one client.
What kinds of changes have you made to reduce overheads in the current climate (if any)?
As a result of the current climate we've taken out the night shift, due to a combination of a reduction in overall demand and managing the increase in costs.
How has the energy crisis impacted your business?
We are a very high energy user which resulted in our energy costs going up by over 300% which has been extremely challenging.
The direct results of this have led to redundancies.
What is your approach to debt and finance?
Ensure up to date monthly accounts, tracking cash flow, interest rates and building longer-term fixed finance arrangements.
How do you nurture your customer relationships?
Our main aim is always to become an extension of our customers’ business.
What measures have you taken to attract and retain talent in a tough climate?
Chiefly we've provied stability and reassurance for all colleagues.
How important is innovation and technology in future proofing your business and give an example of where you've invested in it?
We've invested in a new MIS system which will enable us to process work more efficiently moving forward with less human intervention.
