Overseeing other state investments

The British Business Bank oversees a number of legacy loan and equity funds to which the government has previously provided capital, often alongside the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), European Investment Bank (EIB) and private investors.

These include:

  • Geographically-specific funds originally set up by the former English Regional Development Agencies (RDAs)
  • JEREMIE funds of funds in the north of England (North West, North East and Yorkshire & Humber)
  • Regional Venture Capital Funds (RVCF)
  • UK High Technology Fund
  • Early Growth Funds
  • The Aspire Fund

These have all reached the end of their investment periods and the respective fund managers are now managing out the portfolios and realising their value. The returns generated are then used to resource new initiatives developed by the British Business Bank and its partners.
