Salary: £22,000 - £24,000

An opportunity has arisen for a Receptionist at our offices in Sheffield. The successful candidate will ensure that the reception area and meeting rooms are effectively managed throughout the day and provide visitors to the British Business Bank with a first class service.

The job holder will be the first point of contact for all visitors to the British Business Bank and all telephone calls received. They will be responsible for:

  • Meeting and Greeting all British Business Bank guests in a professional manner and ensure
  • Preparation and management of the reception area and meeting rooms for the day
  • To act as a Super-user of Audio Visual Equipment (video conferencing)
  • Provide support to the wider British Business Bank team
  • Providing some PA/Admin support to the wider team
  • Manage incoming calls that come into the main switchboard;
  • Manage general BBB inbox

In addition there is a requirement to assist the Office Manager with Health and Safety issues and act as dedicated Fire Marshal for the office (for which training will be given).


The British Business Bank is a unique and exciting new institution. Our objective is to make finance markets work better for UK small businesses. It was established in 2014 as a development bank for the UK managed independently from Government and under the governance of its own board of directors, with the aim of improving access to finance for small and medium sized businesses. We have around £4bn of capital resources and operate as a wholesale institution in a wide range of financial services markets ranging from bank lending to venture capital. Currently, we employ around 170 people, split between our two offices in London and Sheffield.
